AI Friday
New Orleans
The door's open.
5:30 in the evening · New Orleans
Once a month we get a room here and show each other what we made with AI. Most of us are not programmers.
Free. Nothing to bring. We'll email you the address.
AI Friday is a meetup and a Slack. Once a month we take over a room, four or five people show something they made or something they finally figured out, and then everybody talks for an hour.
The people who come are lawyers, teachers, nurses, bookkeepers, people who run small businesses. They use a computer all day. They are not engineers.
You don't have to be technical. That is the entire point.
A family lawyer · Mid-City
A new client fills out a form. She gets a plain summary and three questions to ask, before she picks up the phone.
Seventh grade teacher · Algiers
She pastes in the state standards. It gives back five days of labs and worksheets she can actually run on Monday.
Restaurant owner · Freret Street
Everybody texts him when they can't work. It reads the texts and builds the week around them.
Program manager · Central City
Grant PDFs go in. Dates come out on a calendar she checks every Monday morning.
Somebody always demos something small enough to copy down and try at your own desk the next morning.
We do introductions at the start, out loud, by what you do. You will meet people in your line of work.
Worth as much as knowing what it's good at. It saves you three weeks on the wrong idea.
Between meetups it's a Slack. People post what they're stuck on before they post what worked, and somebody usually answers within the hour.
Nobody is made to feel stupid for asking a basic question, because most of us are asking basic questions.
Around 300 people. Quiet most days.
